More and more urban areas throughout the United States – in both dry and rainy locales -- are facing growing pressures on their water infrastructure systems, necessitating both greater investments for overhaul and a change in development patterns that are more conducive to conservation, according to Infrastructure 2010: An Investment Imperative, a new publication released today by the Urban Land Institute and Ernst & Young.

Urban Land Institute Announces New Trustees

Eighteen land use professionals have been named to serve on the Urban Land Institute (ULI) Board of Trustees for a three-year term beginning July 1, 2010 and ending June 30, 2013. The ULI Governance Committee believes that the addition of the new trustees to the existing roster of trustees will provide sound leadership for the Institute.

Urban Land Institute Announces $86,000 In Funding Through Community Action Grants Program

Four grants have been awarded in the Urban Land Institute’s (ULI) semi-annual funding of its community action grants program. Through the program, created over five years ago, the ULI Foundation Fund has raised money to be distributed as grants to district councils or ULI members on behalf of nonprofit organizations for entrepreneurial programs that aim to improve urban growth in their communities.

The severity of the problem threatens the region’s future economic viability and, unless serious policy changes are made, new home development will leave significant unmet demand, leaving thousands of working families “priced out” of affordable housing options.
