ULI was founded in 1936 as a nonprofit, nonpartisan research and educational institute under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. ULI represents over 40,000 members worldwide, and has experienced tremendous growth in the last few years.

Research
Evaluates new approaches to land use and development and analyzes the factors shaping development demand, supply, and patterns. Collects data and reports on market conditions, economic performance on various types of development projects, land prices, and other aspects of land use development.
Advisory Services
More than 30 panels completed each year, from 2-hour project analysis sessions to 5-day advisory services panels.
Budget
$52 million with a staff of 140 worldwide. Sources of revenue are Meetings/Educations Programs: 34%; Membership: 24%; Publications: 7%; Advisory Services: 8%; and all others: 27%.
