Investment, Development Rank High in China’s Lesser-Known Cities
In ULI’s new report China Cities Survey, Chengdu, a city of 5 million residents, was the highest ranked city for both overall development and investment prospects. This rapidly growing city was one of the lesser-known cities in China ranked by investors in the region for ULI’s first annual 16-city survey. The high rankings of these key economic centers emphasize the extraordinary appeal of China markets as a place to invest and develop. Download report

ULI Ten Principles for a Sustainable Approach to New Development Report Launch
A new report Ten Principles for a Sustainable Approach to New Development, was released at a luncheon held on June 1, 2011 by ULI. Over 100 attended the event including developers, government officials and community representatives to share their views on the Ten Principles and discussed how to make Hong Kong a more livable, walkable and sustainable city. MOU Signing between Centre for Liveable Cities & Urban Land Institute
ULI has signed its first memorandum of understanding (MOU) in Singapore with the Centre for Liveable Cities. The MOU which will be reviewed after 3 years, which will see the CLC and ULI collaborate on publications, global conferences and other international knowledge-sharing events. The Centre for Liveable Cities is a think-tank on urban governance jointly established by the Ministry of National Development and the Ministry of Environment and Water Resources. An Industry Futures Forum and public lecture by ULI’s chairman and executive trustee of the Grosvenor Estate, Mr Jeremy Newsum, marked the beginning of the newlyminted partnership. At both events, senior representatives from the public and private sectors gathered to discuss how cities can continue to remain relevant, liveable and sustainable as they develop.




ULI Selects Four Winners of the 2011 Awards for Excellence: Asia Pacific Competition
ULI’s Awards for Excellence: Asia Pacific competition is widely recognized as the land use industry’s most prestigious recognition program, from among a broad mix of exemplary applications throughout the Asia Pacific region. The winners were announced at the Real Estate Investment World (REIW) Asia Industry Gala Dinner in Singapore on 22 June 2011. The winners (developers in parentheses) are:
  • Paddington Reservoir Gardens, Sydney, Australia (City of Sydney)
  • Marina Barrage, Singapore (PUB, Singapore’s national water agency)
  • Mandurah Ocean Marina, Mandurah, Australia (LandCorp)
  • The Pinnacle@Duxton, Singapore (Housing and Development Board, Singapore)
