A ULI National Policy & Practice Forum
Building Energy Use Disclosure Trends in Local U.S. Markets

Urban Land Institute
Washington, DC
March 1, 2012

Cities in leading real estate markets are implementing new regulatory requirements which seek to publically disclose the energy use of commercial buildings in their city. How are municipalities structuring the public disclosure of this information? Will public disclosure of this information have an immediate market impact? Join us for this one-day forum to explore how city officials, building owners, utilities, and service providers are redefining professional practice in light of local energy disclosure initiatives. The forum will conclude with a public program at the National Building Museum.

This forum is being organized by the ULI Climate Change, Land Use, and Energy (CLUE) Initiative in collaboration with the Institute for Market Transformation (IMT) and SF Environment, a Department of the City and County of San Francisco, and funded in part by a grant from the Urban Sustainability Director's Network (USDN).

Topics to be covered include:

  • Regulatory trends at the municipal level;
  • Insights from both public and private stakeholders;
  • Examples of emerging programs and partnerships;
  • Insights into the growth of the building retrofit marketplace;
  • Sharing of views of market transformation strategies.
