Councils
The Urban Land Institute created the Councils to focus on specialized fields in land use and development. They are designed to provide a forum for education, networking, and sharing best practices among ULI Full Members. Councils promote excellence in programming, solicit the highest quality of industry leader, and foster and preserve a culture of openness and sharing.

In 2001, some 300 members were under 35 years of age or younger and student membership totaled less than 500. To reach out to the next generation of industry leaders, the Institute created a special membership category for those under 35 years old, reducing dues and meeting registration fees equal to those offered government officials, academics and nonprofits.
Today, 38 District Councils sponsor Young Leader Groups (YLG) and membership of those under 35 years of age or younger topped 8,000 and student memberships total over 1,900. Here is a sampling of some recent YLG activities.
